Volunteering and Student Protection

 © Brisbane Catholic Education, (2024)
Student protection and wellbeing are paramount in Catholic Schools.  Our commitment to the protection of students is based in our belief that each person is made in the image of God, and our ethos is to provide a safe and supportive environment for all. All students have the right to expect that the school will always act to protect them from any kind of harm.

It is a requirement that all volunteers at Brisbane Catholic Education schools undertake training in Student Protection.

Any new parents to the school or parents who have not previously completed this training and wish to volunteer in any capacity at our school are required to complete this particular training prior to volunteering at St Joseph’s. Our volunteers at St Joseph’s include classroom helpers, supervisors on camps and excursions, Fete Convenors, Tuckshop, Library and Multilit volunteers.

Training within this link is in two parts:
  1. Please download and read through the Code of Conduct for Volunteers and Other Personnel.
  2. Please watch the power point presentation in Volunteer and Other Personnel Training and Registration.  Once you’ve done so and then click ‘submit’, you will receive a document that states you’ve completed the training.  Kindly print this document, sign and send it into the school office for our file.
Please note:  As extended family members and friends in the community also volunteer at our school, they too must complete this training prior to volunteering.  As they do not have access to the Parent Portal, this same link will be posted on the external St Joseph’s Website.   Please note that they must also hold a current Blue Card..
